About the role
Experienced spacecraft avionics engineer to own flight electronics across our space programmes. Strong foundation in mixed-signal and high-speed board design, radiation effects and part selection for space. Should have designed hardware that has flown, and be able to build and mentor the avionics team.
Key Responsibilities:
Spacecraft avionics design, development and qualification – all the way from architecture and schematic to flight-qualified hardware. This role will set the engineering standard for these programmes, take them from ground testing to flight, and help build the team around them.
Qualifications:
B.E./B.Tech, M.Tech or PhD in Electronics (preferred)/Electrical. Certification or course credits in space electronics, radiation effects or IPC/ECSS workmanship will be a plus.
Experience:
10–20 yrs in spacecraft avionics, with hardware that has flown.
Skills:
- Avionics architecture – on-board computer, payload processor, power electronics, telemetry and telecommand, and interfaces (CAN, SpaceWire, RS-422, LVDS, Ethernet).
- Mixed-signal, high-speed digital and power electronics board design and sign-off.
- EEE part selection (COTS vs radiation-tolerant), derating, and TID/SEE analysis and mitigation.
- Integrating high-power COTS compute (GPU/AI accelerators) – power delivery, thermal interfaces, latch-up protection and fault management.
- Harness, grounding, bonding and EMI/EMC design.
- Electronics qualification campaigns – thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC and radiation.
- Experience with image sensor electronics or space-grade FPGAs is an added advantage.
Good to have skills:
Altium / OrCAD / Cadence (PCB design), SPICE / LTspice, SI/PI analysis tools, Vivado / Libero (FPGA), C / Embedded C, Python, ECSS, MIL-STD-461/883, IPC J-STD-001 (space addendum).
